The Higher Secondary School Certificate, also known as intermediate, is a public examination taken by the students of Higher Secondary School or Intermediate college in Pakistan. After finishing Matriculation in grade 9 and 10, the students take the Higher Secondary examination. The Higher Secondary Certificate can be subdivided in science and arts programs. The students concentrating in science programs are awarded Faculty in Science (F.Sc.) certificate in which the students choose their Pre-engineering or Pre-medical program. Computer Science programs students are awarded Intermediate in Computer Science (ICS) certificate. The major subjects which are taken in science and computer science programs are Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics. The students concentrating in arts programs are awarded Faculty in Arts (F.A.) certificate. Commerce program students are awarded Intermediate in Commerce (I.Com) certificate.
